‘Safety’ Was Almost Scrapped, but Now It’s BJRNCK’s Breakthrough

BJRNCK (pronounced byoor’nik) is back with new music. Currently based in LA, the Chicago-born singer recently dropped her new single, “Safety,” dripping in vulnerability and R&B decadence.

While the track is some of BJRNCK’s best, it almost never saw the light of day. “’Safety’ was actually a song that wasn’t going to make it on the project,” said the singer in a press conference with Juice Box Press and 1824. “It was a song that the mixing engineer, who mixed my project, was playing songs that didn’t make it, and he was like ‘I’ll mix this for free if you put this on the album.’ So I was like, Well, I can’t really beat that deal!”

Though the song itself was a happy accident, the music video, with its stunning water backdrops perfectly complementing the beauty of her vocals, was anything but. “The song always felt like water to me, and the drums felt like Aaliyah vibes so I really wanted to pay homage to that (‘Rock The Boat’ video). In ‘Crazy’ and all of the other videos, I didn’t really dance and show that side, so I feel like this was a great opportunity to do a bit of paying homage to something that represents me and what I listened to as a child growing up and also get my little dance moves on.”

With “Safety,” BJRNCK reminds us that sometimes the most unexpected tracks become the most impactful. What began as a near throwaway evolved into a rich, immersive experience, sonically and visually. From her homage to early 2000s R&B to the water-soaked elegance of the video, BJRNCK isn’t just making music, she’s crafting moments. And if this release is any indication, she’s stepping into a new era of artistry with confidence, clarity, and undeniable depth.
