Where Masego’s GRAMMY®-nominated Studying Abroad: Extended Stay found him restless in self-discovery, his new album, Fix Your Face, finds him settled in, right at home. On a Wednesday night, Boston experienced that newfound self-assurance firsthand as Masego brought the Fix Your Face Tour to House of Blues, with support from Lekan.
Bathed in warm, moody lighting with a live-feed screen illuminating the stage, Masego took to the intimate House of Blues stage. Backed by his band, he moved through a setlist spanning his discography, while giving Fix Your Face the spotlight it deserved.
The new project marks a shift from bravado toward vulnerability, and hearing those two sides of Masego’s artistry together made the evolution unmistakable. Most notably, the transition from freestyle-driven tracks to fully realized songs showcased a musician who has become increasingly intentional with both his lyrics and his sound.
The set highlighted Masego not only as a lyricist, but as a multi-instrumentalist. Throughout the night, he moved effortlessly between piano, guitar, and even keytar. A standout moment came during a sick saxophone solo. Having a live band behind him also created space for each musician to showcase their talents, with solos and instrumental breaks adding energy to the performance.
All night, the crowd remained engaged, feeding off Masego’s energy. So when the cheers for an encore grew louder, his return to the stage felt inevitable. He closed the night with the song that started it all, “Tadow.” The crowd’s reaction reminded everyone why the track has earned Platinum certification in the U.S.
From his musicianship to his commanding stage presence, Masego proved that he’s finally found his place, and he’s here to stay. Alongside Lekan, he delivered a night of music that balanced high-energy moments with intimacy, giving the Boston crowd a chance to experience both artists at their best. With no backing tracks to hide behind, the performances put their raw talent and musicianship front and center.
