Tiger La Flor is leaving all her worries in the rearview with her cinematic new single “HEAVEN IS A HARLEY.”
Inspired by the liberating end of a toxic relationship, the nostalgic and empowering anthem roars to life with its fresh Americana sound reminiscent of early Lana Del Rey.
The song serves as the triumphant “closing credits” to a larger EP, which also features previously released single, “LASSO THE MOON,”a tribute to her own parent’s love story. The EP brings listeners along for the ride as Tiger La Flor sings of love, heartbreak, and healing.
On our latest episode of ECHO – The Podcast, we sat down with Tiger La Flor to hear about the writing and production process for the single and upcoming EP, as well as what’s on the horizon for this rising singer-songwriter.
Congrats on the release of your new single, “HEAVEN IS A HARLEY”! What inspired that song?
Yeah, that song is part of the larger project of the EP. The EP as a whole is done like a film soundtrack, and that song corresponds to the end credits. It would be the part where the protagonist drives off into the sunset after everything they’ve overcome. So, it’s really the end of the story the EP is telling. It’s kind of hard to explain out of context, but I’d say it’s a song about liberation, and when you detach from things that have held you back, previously. It’s like the happy ending for the protagonist in the story.
And did you set out to write that story, or was it something that you wrote a few songs and you were like ‘there’s a story here and I want to expand on it’?
It was super intentional. Usually, at the beginning of a project I’ll mood board out what the entire creative direction is for the project that I’m creating, what the storyline is, and actually each individual song – how it’s going to fall into that larger project. I had all the styling done for what I knew I would want for the press photos, like everything, before we ever sat down to write the songs, which is kind of intimidating as a producer or songwriter in some ways, because it’s like, you have an assignment, you’re not just like walking into a room. But I’ve always liked that because I’ve always loved projects that feel like there’s a lot of intention behind the vision. There was definitely a lot of planning for this one.
