Hot off the release of their latest album Gold Star Baby, The Aces transformed the Royale into the “hottest club in town”: the Gold Star Baby. But before the crowd could work up a sweat to The Aces’ dance-ready 22-song set, they got to pregame with Lydia Night.
Joined by her former Regrettes bandmate Drew Thomsen, Night had the crowd singing and dancing to new solo releases like “Where’s the Bomb” and “Pity Party,” along with a surprise Justin Bieber cover. Even when the mic briefly cut out, Night kept the energy high, prompting the audience to pitch their best jokes, some of which genuinely impressed her. After shouting out Boston for its unmatched energy and amazing cannolis, a beloved North End staple, Night passed the mic to The Aces.
The Aces brought their magic next with a set so groovy, all it was missing was a disco ball. Ranging from Gold Star Baby back to early favorites like “Volcanic Love” and “Waiting for You,” the band had the audience boogying down in GA. They also teased their bonus single “Square One,” which dropped shortly after on November 14 and will be a part of the deluxe version of the Gold Star Baby album.
And what’s a night out at the club without a little drama and support from strangers? The Aces resurrected their Aces Space podcast segment, “Tea of the Week,” asking the audience for their hottest gossip and assuring them, “What happens in the Royale, stays in the Royale.” It was a true Boston tea party. Other highlights included a best-dressed competition that had fans cheering on their favorite looks, which rivaled the bands flashy looks, especially lead vocalist Cristal Ramirez’s cheetah print top.
They closed out the dynamite night with “Stuck,” a track the crowd couldn’t help but jump to, and maybe even hustle to, as they belted back every word.
Boston is just the beginning of the band’s packed run of live performances extending into early 2026, after which they’ll join Louis Tomlinson on his arena tour.
