Green River Festival Returns in 2026 With Genre-Defying Lineup

For years, the Green River Festival has been one of Western Massachusetts’ best-kept musical secrets. It’s a three-day celebration that blends indie rock, folk, soul, global music, and adventurous sounds in a setting that feels more curated than commercial. Locals love it. And the truest of music fans travel far to experience it. That quiet reputation is shifting fast. After standout billings in recent years and demand from devoted fans, the festival’s 2026 lineup has begun turning heads far beyond its regional core audience. This year is particularly exciting for the festival, as it’s their 40th year, a testament to how well-received the festival has been year after year. This year’s iteration will take place June 19th through the 21st, at the Franklin County Fairgrounds in Greenfield, MA, with passes and add-ons on sale now.

Headlining this year’s edition are three acts that capture just how eclectic and forward-looking the festival has become. On Friday evening Charley Crockett, the alt-Americana heavy hitter takes the stage. Spoon headlines Saturday evening – they’re indie rock veterans whose influence spans decades. And finally closing out the festival is Geese, the post-punk revivalists bringing raw fire and energy to stages across the country.

These names anchor a bill that feels both broad and intentional. Also on the bill are The Beths, indie rock darlings who, just coming off a major tour of their own, have earned them widespread acclaim and notoriety; Kurt Vile & The Violators, and Wednesday, alt-rock bands whose buzz has only continued to grow.

But the festival’s magic has always been found in the spaces between those big names, and 2026 is no exception. Acts like Hurray for the Riff Raff, Folk Bitch Trio, and Southern Avenue reflect Green River’s commitment to diversity of sound.

International and eclectic voices round out the festival’s broad palette as well, with world music artists like Etran de L’Aïr, Frente Cumbiero, and Sonido Gallo Negro adding international sound to the weekend. And of course, there are still names to come to fill out an already jam-packed weekend.

Green River has always felt like a community festival with national potential. Music runs across multiple stages over three days, with courtesy shuttles, camping add-ons, and an atmosphere that embraces local food, crafts, and family-friendly entertainment alongside its music programming.

Part of what makes Green River feel special is the way it rewards curiosity. Fans who make the trip to the festival don’t just see one style of music. Discovery is the biggest part of what makes Green River Festival special. Not every name on the bill is a household name, and that’s intentional. Fans bounce from genre to genre, sometimes finding their favorite new band in unexpected places. That approach has quietly built a loyal following, and now, with artists whose careers are climbing quickly, the festival feels poised to break out of its regional bubble and into broader national conversation. As the calendar warms and summer edges closer, Green River Festival’s 2026 edition looks like another unforgettable chapter.
