October 15 marks the release of Coldplay’s highly-anticipated ninth studio album, ‘Music Of The Spheres.’
Over the last two and half decades, Coldplay have been musical innovators, from their use of synchronized bracelets at their shows to lead vocalist Chris Martin’s Global Citizen series #TogetherAtHome, a series of virtual live performances. Their new album continues that ingenuity.
The album’s lead single, “Higher Power” debuted at the International Space Station by French astronaut Thomas Pesquet and claimed the coveted number one spot on the US Hot 100, making Coldplay the first British band to do so.
The album also features collaborations with some of the biggest artists in pop music, including BTS, Selena Gomez, and Jacob Collier.
Along with the release of the album, the band shared a lyric video for their “album centerpiece,” “Let Somebody Go.” The heartfelt lyrics are handwritten by Martin and Gomez.
Coldplay will take this album global with their Music Of The Spheres World Tour launching 2022. The 28 stop tour will feature “a comprehensive set of sustainability initiatives and environmental commitments, including halving CO2 emissions and planting a tree for every ticket sold,” the band shared in a press release. Learn more about those initiatives here.
Tickets are available now at coldplay.com/tour.
