On August 3, people of all ages packed into Boston’s Brighton Music Hall to see UK singer/songwriter, Tom Walker. The intimate hall served as the perfect venue for Walker’s soulful and relatable sound. Â
Walker began his 13 song set with the single, “Angels†from his debut album, What A Time To Be Alive. He proceeded to play through most of the album; including “Dominoes,†a commentary on the news and “Walk Alone,” his collaboration with UK group, Rudimental. His single, “Now You’re Gone†featuring Zara Larsson was noticeably absent from the setlist. The set was peppered with anecdotal stories of thrifting, technological woes, and first loves.

As one song moved to the next it became evident that Walker’s music does not fit cleanly into any one genre. It includes an artful mix of pop, rock, soul, and country. The unusual blend could at times be defined as therapeutic; while at others it inspires a full dance floor.

After a brief interlude, Walker returned to the stage with a Heineken in hand to offer a toast and thank you to the crowd. “I don’t want to leave the f*cking stage,†he noted, “It’s been an honor and a privilege. Thank you.â€
He closed the show with his hit single, “Leave A Light On;†which had audience members singing and cheering long after the lights came up and Walker had left the stage.
Catch Tom Walker in a city near you through November 2019.
