Portugal. The Man is making their highly anticipated comeback with their new single “What, Me Worry?,” and we’re feeling them still!
The single, produced by Jeff Bhasker and Ryan Tedder, comes in hot with heavy bass and lead vocalist John Gourley’s signature falsetto levitating through rebellious, nostalgic, and sarcastic lyrics.
“While recording this album and hanging in LA, we got into a conversation with Jeff Bhasker and Ryan Tedder about how much we missed laughter,” Gourley says of the inspiration,
He continues, “The last few years it’s been so easy to forget the fun in what we do. We talked about childhood memories of laughing at the world and ourselves while flipping through Mad Magazine. We missed those days and remembered that we all make music. So we took that afternoon to make a song about it.”
The kick-off for this new era for the Grammy-winning rockers is not complete without an angsty, transformative, and cinematic video with interspersed animation.
The new single is the first preview of their forthcoming 9th studio album due out June 2022.
Fans can catch Portugal. The Man on their 34 stop tour kicking off February 25 in Pittsburgh, PA. Tickets here!
