Portland, Maine has always been a hot spot for tourists and locals alike in the summertime. But this year it’s about to get even better and busier with the first ever Back Cove Music and Arts Festival.
This two day festival, taking place the first weekend of August on August 2nd and 3rd, will be held at Payson Park in Portland, a beautiful park located right on the water. The headliners for this new festival include a stellar lineup with Jack White, Lord Huron, André 3000, and Lucy Dacus as some of the big names!
Performances will start at 12:30 pm both days, beginning with performers from the Maine Academy of Modern Music. The festival is set to end at 10 pm each night, with final performances going from 8:15 pm to 10:00 pm. Though the headliners are incredible, the undercard cannot be ignored! Being a Maine native myself, I’m really looking forward to seeing local bands like The Weakend Friends and Oshima Brothers absolutely kill it up on stage.
The festival is advertised as being extremely family friendly, with kids under 12 getting in for free with a ticketed adult. Furthermore, local artists will be selling their goods, along with a variety of local food and drink vendors, although the finalized list has not yet been released. Overall, it sounds like a fun-filled community event!
I’m stoked to have the opportunity to attend the festival this year and spend a weekend in my home state. Maine is truly one of my favorite places, especially in the summertime, and the city of Portland is a thriving and vibrant community. Fingers crossed for beautiful weather and an incredible inaugural Fest that helps to highlight just how wonderful the city of Portland and the state of Maine truly are!
