On Wednesday, January 3, Ingrid Michaelson joined Hoda Kotb as a guest co-host on NBC’s TODAY. While hosting, she revealed that she will be part of the Broadway Musical adaptation of the 2004 film The Notebook; which starred Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. Like the film, the musical will bring the pages of the 1996 Nicholas Sparks heartbreaking romantic novel to life.
Michaelson is best known as a songwriter who has written and performed such hits as Be OK, The Way I Am, and Girls Chase Boys. However, last summer Michaelson deviated and made her Broadway debut in the production of Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812.
Perhaps this introduction to Broadway served as the catalyst for her decision to agree to compose the music and lyrics for The Notebook production.
Michaelson is collaborating with This is Us producer and writer, Bekah Brunstetter, who will adapt The Notebook’s screen version to the stage.
Fans know that with this unique talent pairing the production will Be OK…and so much more than OK when it hits the broadway stage!
