GUNNAR Returns to Boston with his Debut Headlining ‘UPSIDE DOWN Tour’

GUNNAR has previously shared the stage with acts like PRETTYMUCH and Maroon 5, but now he’s flipping the script with his debut headlining UPSIDE DOWN Tour. On October 15, GUNNAR returned to Boston to deliver fresh music and good vibes at the Red Room at Cafe 939.

Paying it forward, GUNNAR invited rising artist Zoe Ko to open the night, just as others once did for him. The New York native ignited the stage with bold charisma, delivering an electric set featuring tracks like “Kiss My (Ah)” and “DIRT.” Like her lyrics, she embodied confidence, rocking out in a studded bra, bejeweled “icona” shorts, a nod to her song, and a skirt made completely of trash bags.

When it was GUNNAR’s turn to take the stage, the energy in the room reached a new high. From his newest material off his sophomore album Sunfaded to fan-favorites like the 2023 single “Again and Again,” his 11-song set proved that his journey to this moment was no accident. The crowd sang along to every word, a testament to the connection he’s built with his fans.

“Thank you for showing up and just being here, being you, and supporting my music and my journey,” GUNNAR said with heartfelt gratitude. “It’s such a special thing, and it wouldn’t be possible without each and every one of you. So thank you guys so f*cking much from the bottom of my heart.”

That appreciation came through not only in his words but in a dynamic, high-energy performance backed by a full band. Midway through the night, GUNNAR slowed things down for an acoustic segment, allowing his vocals to take center stage on “You Changed Me.” Breaking tradition, he chose not to include a cover song, something that’s been a staple of his sets since age eight, and instead debuted a deeply personal original, “None of Them Are You.” “It wasn’t going to come out,” he shared. “It was a song I had in my back pocket, but it spoke to me, I started playing it, and now, here we are.” He revealed the track would be released shortly after tour.

He closed out the night with “Bitter,” but his genuine gratitude, from engaging with fans during the show to chatting at the merch table, made it clear he was anything but.
