GALLERY: Ocean Alley Brings Genre-Bending Psychedelic Sound to Boston

It was all about confidence on July 25 as Australian rock-psychedelia-reggae-blues group Ocean Alley brought their North American tour to Boston’s House of Blues, with opening support from rising duo Bird and Byron.

Since the release of their 2018 breakout hit “Confidence,” Ocean Alley has become a fixture on TikTok and a force in the live music scene. Their Boston performance delivered exactly what fans have come to expect from Ocean Alley’s sublime sound and energy: a 16-song set packed with fan favorites like “Tangerine” and “Mellow Yellow,” a performance of their unreleased track “Drenched,” and an encore of “Touch Back Down.”

The band’s upcoming album, Love Balloon, is set for release in September and was produced by Nick DiDia (Bruce Springsteen, Rage Against the Machine, Powderfinger). The project promises an immersive psychedelic sound with stories that navigate the complexities of love and the lives we lead.
