Last month, FKA twigs made her triumphant return with “Measure of A Man.” This week she delivered her new single “Tears In The Club” featuring The Weeknd.
Hailed by Pitchfork for her “limitlessly innovative songwriting,” this single marks a new era and evolution for twigs.
“I’m always pushing to level up to MY best self, and I’ve pushed so hard to find my capri sun,” she shared, “I’m so proud of this music.”
She has found her “capri sun” in the vulnerable dance track produced by Cirkut, Arca and El Guincho. However, this is no regular trap beat dance track, the lyrics are heavy with pain and healing as she sings, “I want to get you out of my hips, my thighs, my hair, my eyes, my late-night cries.”
Her homecoming wouldn’t be complete without the official video directed by Amber Grace Johnson (Rihanna, J. Cole, Kali Uchis). Set in a futuristic world, the video, complete with choreography, highlights the hurt that radiates from her lyrics.
This track is just an introduction to the collection of new songs from FKA twigs which will be released in early 2022.
