In 2008, the Jonas Brothers had fans “Burning Up.” Now, more than a decade later, rising artist Alex Warren is stoking that nostalgia by teaming up with Joe Jonas for a fiery re-release of Warren’s hit single, “Burning Down.”
Drawing from past toxic and exploitative relationships, “Burning Down” reflects Warren’s realization of “the powerful moment of breaking free from such situations.” This sentiment is vividly expressed in the lyrics: “Said I’m the one who’s wanted for all the fires you started / You knew the house was burning down, I had to get out.”
The explosive self-care anthem was not only one that resonated with Warren and his 14M monthly Spotify listeners, but also with Jonas. “‘Burning Down’ was already such a powerhouse song, so when he asked me to be a part of this version, I was honored,” Jonas shared via a press release.
On working with Jonas, Warren said, “It’s surreal that someone I grew up admiring connected with my music so deeply that they wanted to collaborate on a new take on the song.”
This “new take” is a conversational back-and-forth between Warren’s resonant baritone and Jonas’ signature pop vocals eventually blending into a harmonious and inextinguishable hook.
The re-release follows the blazing success of Warren’s debut full-length record, You’ll Be Alright, Kid (Chapter 1), and accompanying record-breaking tour.
