On March 5th, Grace Enger brought the “It’s So Fun” tour to Boston’s Sonia at the Middle East nightclub, turning a rainy, muggy Wednesday evening into a party filled with love, laughter, and music.
Enger has only been releasing music since 2022. However, she quickly joined a posse of underdog indie songwriters like Devon Gabriella, Lexi Jayde, and Sadie Jean, among others, with small but mighty and irrevocably loyal fanbases. Her latest album, “The Alchemist (Gold Edition)” (2025), is an extension of her 2024 EP, which includes her latest massive success of a track, “Love Will Find Me.” Since it’s been teased and subsequently released, the song has been used in many TikTok videos celebrating the welcoming and endlessly fun culture of concerts and how one can “find love” in any room where fans unite over music. Audience members indeed found love in Boston at Enger’s sold-out headline show.
Enger established powerful storytelling in her songwriting early in her performance with opening songs like “The Alchemist” and “Habits Die Hard.” During the latter performance, fans held signs reading, “Curtains and the lights came up…we see you!,” a nod to the song’s lyrics. Touched by the fan project, Enger thanked the crowd in earnest.
Her vocals shone during “Bad Guy,” a song about a “douche” she dated, which was also, as she mentioned to the crowd, the first song she wanted to share with the world. One of Enger’s most popular tracks, “The Neighborhood,” along with “It’s No Fun,” were exceptionally high in energy and fun, especially for the crowd. Not long after, however, tears began to stream down fans’ faces during “I Miss You Tonight.”
Before performing “A Year From Now,” Enger pointed out that she wrote the song a year ago, from the day the “It’s So Fun” tour began, February 18th. Enger and the audience felt the weight of this full-circle moment as she performed the song.
While performing “20,” Enger expressed her anxiety about moving across the country to pursue music. Nevertheless, as she then pointed out, her cousins and high school friends were present at the show to support her. She also took a moment to shout Northeastern University as well as Berklee College of Music for the music summer camps in which she participated throughout her childhood.
As her set came to a close, Enger geared up to play her TikTok famous “Love Will Find Me,” another audience favorite of the evening. Beforehand, she discussed manifestation for the new year, with which fans deeply resonated before singing their hearts out to the optimistic, upbeat track.
When asked, “Why Grace Enger?” audience member Lucy Schneller commented, “I’m a casual fan; I heard about her through promotions on Instagram. I learned the set list a few days prior, but really, I went in blind. Despite the delays and cold weather, I had so much fun with the people I queued with, and it made the experience all the better. I love musicians like Grace Enger, who have a way of bringing people with similar interests together.” Schneller also had plans to see Role Model in the upcoming weeks and noted that she met many others in Enger’s queue who were also going. She added, “I love the sense of community [Enger] and all artists bring to fans.” It’s clear that, in a short time, Enger has garnered a loving fanbase with genuine adoration and well-wishes toward her, even gaining them right after a performance. As Enger closes out the It’s So Fun Tour, she will undoubtedly continue collecting loyal listeners and, hopefully, continue writing and releasing new music for the fanbase to enjoy.
